Discover the surroundings of the Timhotel Paris Gare de l'Est
The gare de l'Est district, near Canal Saint-Martin, has been revitalised in the last few years and is now one of the capital's liveliest neighbourhoods.
Alongside the canal…
Start your walk with a stroll through jardin Villemin; walk past the bandstand and carry on until you come out onto the quai de Valmy wharf. Follow the canal Saint-Martin, past the Point Ephémère. Carry on and, shortly after, cross over and walk along the quai de la Loire. Stroll along the water's edge and admire the barges moored on either side of the canal.
… To the park des Buttes-Chaumont.
At the end of the canal, turn right into rue de Crimée which will take you straight to the parc des Buttes-Chaumont. In addition to its gently sloping lawns - a popular spot with visitors as soon as the weather turns fine - you can walk along the lake and explore its grotto, waterfall, island and the Temple of Sybil, which you can reach via a suspension bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel.
- Walking: 3 km up to entrance to parc des Buttes-Chaumont - Approximately 40 minutes - But you can continue your walk in the park
- Running: 3 km - Approximately 20 minutes - But you can always run in the park
